Rebecca Moccia's "Nostalgism" at the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin
Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin, has partnered with Careof, Milan, and Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Dublino on Rebecca Moccia's new exhibition of film work and sculpture. The exhibition, which involves a complex multi-channel installation across a number of screens, runs from 15 May to 28 June 2026.
Moccia explores nostalgia as a characteristic of contemporary anxiety and proposes alternative readings (from those otherwise promoted in neoliberal rhetoric) as a way of destabilising the narrative of progress imposed by global capitalist, far-right, and neoliberal powers, and imagines counter-hegemonic alternative futures. Much of the research is drawn from her background in the city of Naples, and she uses her personal family history along with the geographical history of the region to explore how cultural identity is formed.
