Bienal Del Agua, "The Traces of Water", Estoril Congress Center, from July 16 to September 6, 2026
Cascais, Portugal

Andrea Mastrovito is participating in the first edition of the Bienal Del Agua, The Traces of Water, to be held in Cascais, Portugal, from July 16 to September 6 2026, in the main section at the Estoril Congress Center curated by Demetrio Paparoni, the Biennale’s general curator. The works on display will be Quando il cielo finisce and Children crusade: a large installation of open books on the floor and a monumental wall piece in which engraving, marquetry, painting, pastel drawing, and graphite frottage intersect to create a powerful visual imagery.

The 1st edition of Bienal Del Agua, which will open its doors to the public on July 18, will be configured as an international platform of multidisciplinary excellence that will bring together different dimensions: artistic, technological, social, academic, and humanitarian. Its objective will be to create a meeting space for artists, scientists, researchers, activists, and citizens, promoting a cross-sectoral dialogue that contributes to greater ecological awareness and the construction of sustainable water management models, as highlighted the Director of the Biennial, Consuelo Ciscar.

The Estoril Congress Center, the Paula Rego House of Stories, NOVA University, the ThisMustBeThePlace gallery and the waterfront promenade at the Cascais Cidadela Art District will serve as exhibition spaces. In addition, the Oliver Water Capsule space will be located in the Cascais Cultural Center.

Andrea Mastrovito, Children Crusade, 2025, 238 x 260 cm, wood inlay, wood carving, acrylic, crayons and graphite on wood
